Aviation Academy
The Aviation program provides students with a comprehensive four-year course of study designed to develop foundational and advanced knowledge in aviation. Aligned with rigorous math and science standards, the program prepares students for both post-secondary education and career pathways in the aviation and aerospace industries.
Through a combination of classroom instruction, hands-on simulations, and technical training, students gain skills in areas such as aerodynamics, navigation, aircraft systems, and aviation safety. Students may also have opportunities to pursue FAA-aligned certifications, dual enrollment, and partnerships with local aviation industry leaders.
This program is ideal for students with an interest in piloting, aerospace engineering, air traffic control, or aviation maintenance.

Thank you to all of those involved, especially Jessica Sampley, Haley Kellogg, Gulf Air Center, Gulf Shores International Airport, AeroPro, Tango Flight, and Dr. Eric Mackey, Alabama State Superintendent of Education, who took a flight!
The Aviation Academy at Gulf Shores High School is designed for students pursuing careers in UAS Drone Pilot, Aircraft Pilot, Aviation Technician, and Airport Operations.
Taking Flight: A New Milestone for Gulf Shores City Schools Aviation Academy!
GSHS Aviation celebrated an incredible gift that will elevate our Aviation Academy to new heights! Thanks to the generosity of Vince and Lynn Boothe, our students now have access to a 2016 TL Sting S4 aircraft! We will be able to offer flight experiences and lessons that few high school programs in the country can.
This milestone reflects the power of community, education, and industry coming together to create unparalleled opportunities for our students. With the support of our school board, city leaders, industry partners, and incredible educators, we continue to make aviation dreams a reality!

Gateway to Great Careers hosted its second industry tour with Gulf Shores City Schools in the field of aviation. This program takes students on a journey beyond textbooks and traditional lessons. Once a month, students venture out into the community to explore a different industry, ranging from healthcare and hospitality to construction, engineering, marine sciences, and more. The program is more than just a field trip; it’s an immersive experience that allows students to interact with professionals, observe daily operations, and engage in hands-on activities that offer a true taste of each career path.
