Frequently Asked Questions - The Monthly Bike Train at Gulf Shores Elementary
How often will the Monthly Bike Train take place? The Monthly Bike Train will occur one day a month.
What grades are eligible to participate? Students in grades 2nd through 5th are allowed to participate. Students in 2nd grade who would like to ride are required to be accompanied by a parent/guardian to participate and students in grade 3rd through 5th will be able to ride without a parent.
What route will the students take to school? The route will start at the Kids Park next to the Bodenhamer Center and travel the path indicated on the map, till students arrive at the elementary school.
What grades can participate in the Monthly Bike Train? 3rd through 5th grade students can be dropped off at the Kids Park next to the Bodenhamer starting at 7:00am, the morning of the bike train. Parents/guardians are required to accompany 2nd grade students and start arriving at 7:00am.
What time will the monthly bike train leave? The monthly bike train will leave Bodenhamer at 7:10am to start the trek to GSES.
Do students need to wear a helmet? All riders must have a helmet on to participate.

What happens at the end of the school day? In the afternoon, the monthly bike train will leave GSES at 3:05pm. Parents of 2nd graders must be at the bike racks ready to go at 3:00pm or the 2nd grade student will be sent to the office for the parent to be called for the child to be picked up at the school.
What happens on inclement weather days? As with any outdoor activities, the monthly bike train will be cancelled due to any inclement weather such as below 40 temps or rain.
Do I need to register my child to participate in the Monthly Bike Train? No, the Monthly Bike Train will be available for any students to participate as long as they arrive on time and follow the expectations of good bike etiquette.
What dates will the students join the Monthly Bike Train? October 17th, November 14th, December 12th, January 16th, February 20th, March 19th, April 16th, May 21st.
What consequences are there is a parent is late? If a parent/guardian is late dropping off, picking up, or meeting their student more than 2 times, the student will not be able to participate in the bike train.
