Our Values

The Gulf Shores City Schools community, comprising The Board of Education, administrators, teachers, school staff, parents, students and community members, has high expectations and standards for all students. The GSCS community challenges and inspires its students to become creative and critical thinkers who make ethical choices, to work both independently and collaboratively to solve problems, to become life-long learners and responsible citizens in a democratic society, and to be prepared for the demands of a highly technological and global community. We are dedicated to continuous improvement and are committed to maintaining the flexibility necessary to anticipate and respond to a changing world.

We believe in:
1. Promoting rigorous, comprehensive, and relevant curriculum that prepares students to become productive citizens and lifelong learners.
2. Developing self-reliance by incorporating the student’s physical, mental, emotional and social well-being into the teaching/learning environment.
3. Fostering inclusive, engaging members of society, and encouraging critical and creative thinking.
4. Recruiting and emboldening the best and the brightest faculty and staff and rewarding innovation and collaboration.
5. Instilling a sense of pride in our schools by engaging the Gulf Shores community in the educational experience.

Our Superintendent's Goals For 2024-25

  • Goal 1: Continue implementation of goals that are outlined in the district strategic plan.
Justification: The district’s strategic plan outlines specific goals and activities organized by strategic priorities. The implementation of these goals and activities is an ongoing process, with continuous documentation of progress to ensure accountability and alignment with district objectives.

  • Goal 2: Continue the implementation of the school system’s master plan for facilities including: Design, bid, and begin construction of a new Gulf Shores High School Design and renovation of a new Central Office
Justification: Capital projects are essential for the ongoing improvement and growth of the school system. Approximately 20% of weekly efforts are devoted to meetings, planning, and evaluating the progress of these projects. The implementation of the facilities master plan remains a top priority for Gulf Shores City Schools, with a focus on the continued construction of a new Gulf Shores High School, as well as the ongoing renovation of a new Central Office.

  • Goal 3: Continue implementation of a Community Engagement Plan.
Justification: The district remains committed to enhancing communication and actively engaging the community. Social media channels are highly active, the district website is continually evolving to better serve stakeholders, and a school system app has been created. The Community Engagement Plan, initially developed to outline strategic efforts in building connections, is in an ongoing phase of development and implementation. Additionally, a Public Relations committee has been established and has set specific goals for the 2024-25 school year to further support these engagement efforts.
