The secondary Science by the Shore team spent the morning at the Gulf State Park Interpretive Center learning and planning! SBTS Director, Krista Marcum, led the team through fieldwork in which they sifted sand for microplastics using correct research data collection procedures. The SBTS team is working diligently to develop more opportunities to help students become scientists in our local environment!
The Gulf Shores Elementary School STEAM PLT visited GSMS and GSHS to learn about vertical opportunities in STEAM across the district. Teachers observed a variety of experiences, many sustainability-related—everything from coding to growing hydroponic lettuce and culinary mushrooms to learning land navigation! Teachers discussed possible additional collaborations across the district and hope to continue moving Full STEAM Ahead!
