Alabama Educator Certificate Renewal Update

Dr. Mackey has extended the No Academic Requirement renewal option through June 30, 2024.
Please note: This update does not change current OLR processing procedures.

To Renew Certificates Expiring June 30, 2023 or June 30, 2024

If you hold a valid Alabama:

  • Professional Educator Certificate

  • Professional Leadership Certificate

  • Renewable Career and Technical Education Certificate

You may use this one-time option to renew without meeting any academic requirements (e.g., experience, coursework, PLUs, etc.).

Submission Window:

  • For 2023 Expiration: Jan 1 – June 30, 2023

  • For 2024 Expiration: Jan 1 – June 30, 2024

Required Documents:

  • Form CTF

  • $30 Application Fee

  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship or Lawful Presence

  • If applicable:

    • Occupational proficiency for Computer Science, Cosmetology, or Health Science

    • Valid SLP License for Class A Speech-Language Pathology

To Reinstate an Expired Certificate

This one-time option also applies to expired:

  • Professional Educator Certificates

  • Professional Leadership Certificates

  • Renewable Career and Technical Education Certificates

Required Documents:

  • Form RTF

  • $30 Application Fee

  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship or Lawful Presence

  • New Background Check (see Form RTF for details)

  • If applicable:

    • Occupational proficiency (Computer Science, Cosmetology, Health Science)

    • Valid SLP License (Class A)
