School board members make critical decisions every day that shape the educational experiences of students, impact teachers, engage parents, and influence the broader community. They work diligently to ensure our schools are safe, supportive, and equipped with the resources needed to help every student succeed. This January, during School Board Member Recognition Month, we pause to express our deep gratitude for their service and dedication.

January is Alabama's 32nd Annual School Board Member Recognition Month. We salute our Board of Education members at Gulf Shores City Schools. Their commitment to ensuring a high-quality education for the students in our community is an invaluable contribution to the future we are building together.

As education leaders, board members play a vital role in building the future of public education. They are responsible for decisions that affect everything from academic programs and teacher support to the facilities where students learn. They spend countless hours attending meetings, participating in professional development, and collaborating with stakeholders to craft policies that guide our schools. Their leadership ensures that community voices are heard and that the best interests of students remain at the forefront.

The theme of this year’s School Board Member Recognition Month is “Building Tomorrow’s Future”. This theme reflects the essential work our board members do in shaping the educational foundation for our students, preparing them to become tomorrow’s leaders and innovators. Their time, effort, dedication and leadership in their role enhance educational opportunities and ensure our schools continue to thrive.

We honor our school board members for their leadership, advocacy, and hard work in Building Tomorrow’s Future. Your impact goes beyond the classroom! GSCS says, Thank you for all you do. "THANK YOU and MAKEWAVES" to our Board of Education Members - Kevin Corcoran, Nicky Gotschall, Kelly Walker, Dale Jernigan, and Frank Malone!

We are thrilled to share the incredible news about our transportation team's outstanding performance! During this year’s Alabama school bus inspection, our Gulf Shores City Schools bus driving team and fleet achieved a perfect rating, showcasing our team's exceptional safety, dedication, and hard work.

This milestone testifies to the attention to detail our drivers demonstrate daily during their pre-trip and post-trip inspections. Their commitment to safety ensures that our students travel in secure and well-maintained buses. Our exceptional mechanics deserve special recognition for their expertise and diligence in keeping our fleet operating like a finely tuned machine. Their efforts are crucial to our daily success and safety, starting and ending each school day.

We also thank the Gulf Shores Board of Education and the Gulf Shores City Schools Superintendent’s Office for your unwavering support of our transportation program. Your investment in our fleet and your encouragement to our team continue to make achievements like this possible.

Please join me in celebrating this accomplishment and thanking everyone who contributed to its success. Together, we set the standard for excellence and safety in school transportation.
