Gay James - Music

Hello, my name is Mrs. James and I love music!  This is how I introduce every music class.  I have been making music with the children of Gulf Shores for over 20 years and although I have been at other schools in Baldwin County, I always called Gulf Shores home.  I also taught 3rd grade here for five years but really love teaching elementary music.

I hold a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Troy (State) University and a Masters in Elementary Education from University of South Alabama.  I play the piano and organ and have served in many churches as a church musician.  I sing in my church choir at First Presbyterian Church in Foley and also play in the handbell choir.

Although I teach all students at Gulf Shores Elementary School, I have a special place in my heart for our performing group, Dolphin Sound.  This group is made of 4th and 5th graders who volunteer to learn and perform a Christmas program and a musical play in the spring.  We have performed Jungle Book KIDS, Aladdin KIDS and Lion King KIDS.

I live in Foley with my husband, son and granddaughter.  We like to play golf and ride bikes.

We will be making music at Gulf Shores Elementary this year and we hope to see you at some of our programs.
