Dirk Dixon

I was born and raised in Muscle Shoals, Alabama by Gaye Dixon, a single mother and PE teacher/Coach of 35 years.  During my school-age years I played football, basketball and baseball and enjoyed outdoor activities and games. I attended Muscle Shoals High School and graduated in 1990.  After graduation I signed a baseball scholarship to play at Brewer State in Fayette, Alabama. After my education there, I attended the University of North Alabama where I received my BS Degree in Secondary Education with endorsements in Physical Education and Chemistry.

My first teaching and coaching position was at Parrish High School in Walker County and I coached football, basketball and baseball. After three years at Parrish I moved south to Baldwin County.  I taught at Spanish Fort Middle School and coached baseball at Daphne for one year before coming to Gulf Shores Middle School in 2000-2001. When I arrived at Gulf Shores I coached Middle School Football (2 years) and Varsity Baseball (10 years). I have been the PE teacher here for 19 years and have coached multiple sports at the Middle School level.

In 2014 the best thing in my life happened to me. I had my first and only baby girl, Charleigh Marie.  She has been a blessing to me and the greatest joy of my life. She is involved in the school, sports and community and loves every minute of it.

This is my 24 year of teaching and have come to call Gulf Shores my home.
