Anticipating The New High School
To provide engaging learning environments, rigorous academics, and to incorporate unique resources of our community to empower all students to achieve success.
The design of the new Gulf Shores High School took over two years and involved the efforts of multiple stakeholders. A design team including architects along with city and school officials visited multiple schools across the country. Along the journey, we received ideas and input from teachers, students, parents, and community members. We believe that the design of our new high school represents the future of teaching and learning. It is designed with collaborative spaces, OUTDOOR LEARNING AREAS, and numerous specialty learning SPACES, such as an industry-grade music production lab, a 4,250 sqUARE FOOT ENGINEERING LAB, A BIO-MEDICAL LAB, AND A CUTTING-EDGE CULINARY LAB. It has dedicated areas for fine arts, including a state-of-the-art performing arts center that will host school and community events. THe new Dolphin athletics center will INCLUDE competition-size gymnasiums, tiered meeting rooms, AND athletic training rooms. additionalLY, THE CAMPUS WILL HAVE AN 18,000 squAre foot field house complete with an athletic performance center THAT WILL be connected to a covered 110-yard practice pavilion providING year-round training opportunities for all Dolphin athletes. When Gulf Shores City Schools opened in August 2019, we asked our stakeholders to imagine the future of learning in our school system. The new Gulf SHores High School is our pathway to the future!
